My Experience Presenting at BECITHCON 2026
Reflections on presenting an ECG arrhythmia classification study online at IEEE BECITHCON 2026 and communicating technical research to an academic audience.
I completed an online research presentation at IEEE BECITHCON 2026 for Paper ID 530. The accepted paper, “Ablation Driven CNN-BiLSTM-Attention Network With SHAP for ECG Arrhythmia Classification,” forms part of my academic research experience.
The study explores a hybrid deep learning approach to ECG heartbeat classification. It combines a convolutional neural network, a bidirectional LSTM, and an attention mechanism. Ablation experiments examine the contribution of different components, while SHAP explanations help interpret the model’s predictions.
Presenting this work gave me an opportunity to communicate the research beyond the written paper. A presentation brings the problem, approach, evaluation, and findings into a shorter format that an audience can follow.
This experience helped me appreciate the importance of a clear research narrative. Technical details become easier to understand when their purpose is explained: what a component contributes, why a comparison matters, and what the findings support.
Completing the presentation was a milestone in my experience as a research contributor. It strengthened my confidence in explaining technical work and added another dimension to my learning alongside software development and freelancing.
